City of Lakes Triathlon (COLT)

The City of Lakes Triathlon (COLT) is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event and the 2026 USAT New Mexico State Championships for both Age Group competitors and High School athletes. The event offers Sprint and Olympic distance options. Sprint: 750m swim, 20k bike, 5k run. Olympic: 1500m swim, 40k bike, 10k run. Swim takes place in Twin Lake with a diamond-shaped counter-clockwise course. Bike course is an out-and-back on scenic, slightly hilly, newly paved roads with light traffic. Run route utilizes sidewalks and road shoulders with portions on dirt. Sprint cutoff is 3 hours (swim cutoff 35 minutes). Olympic cutoff is 4 hours 30 minutes (swim cutoff 1 hour 10 minutes). Wave starts are organized by gender and age. USAT membership required ($15 one-day fee, $10 for juniors 17 and under). Top 3 adult age group and High School finishers for each gender will be recognized by USA Triathlon.
